Over the summer, the Cascade High School FFA members showed their animals at the Marion County Fair. 23 FFA members exhibited.

10 Members sold FFA market projects through the Marion Country Junior Livestock Auction, and those sales totaled $22,120!

A huge thank you to our parent groups and all our parent volunteers. You make such a huge difference in the classrooms, raising money for important needs, and supporting our students and staff!

How do we build relationships and community? We "Start with Hello!"

Last week and this week, our schools are focusing on being the one to take the risk and say hello to someone, to make a connection and be positive with each other.

The best way to be anti-bullying is to be pro-community! Our students are learning to initiate friendships, send positive messages (in sidewalk chalk), and have fun together (with cornhole and other fun activities.)

Our Opportunity Center does amazing work with our students who need a different environment than traditional school. Students earn credits through an online program, but the Opportunity Center gives them live instruction from teachers each day.

More than that, it's a place where staff builds relationships to support students. The students set goals for their progress and staff follow up each week to see how things are going. It's another place at Cascade where #everydaylearning makes a difference for our students!

Salem Ropes Challenge came to the Opportunity Center this week and led students and staff in various team building activities. It was a great time to build community and belonging at the OC!

Thursday night our Long Range Planning Committee met again. This group of parents, community members, and staff met all through the spring. The district has hired outside consultants to help us determine the condition and needs in our buildings as we plan for the future.

Our maintenance department works hard on repairs and upkeep, yet the age of our buildings means there are needs beyond what regular maintenance can fix.

The committee has done great work prioritizing the needs. Be watching for your chances to give feedback.

Cloverdale Elementary held their jogathon on Thursday, and the kids had so much fun! Thanks to all the parents who came out and supported!

Science and education undergraduates will be teaching various science concepts for elementary and Junior High students through hands-on activities and experiments at Corban University. These lessons will be held for two hours on four consecutive Saturdays.

The upcoming session is October 25-November 15. There will be another session in the Spring, February 21-March 14. The topics for this Fall session include natural disasters (K - 1st grade), innovative inventions (2nd - 3rd grade), chemical reactions (4th - 5th grade), and the nervous system (6th - 8th grade).

There are a few scholarships for students for whom participation in our program would be financially difficult. You can find additional information at this link.

Cascade High School's Travel Club is once again sponsoring a Craft Show as a fundraiser for student travel abroad.

It's open to the public on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 9 am to 4 pm at Cascade High School.
