School Board Takes Action

Posted Date: 12/03/25 (05:48 PM)

Today the Cascade School Board met in a Special Executive Session to be briefed by legal counsel on the recent lawsuit. Returning to public session, the Board unanimously passed three resolutions.

The first resolution reaffirmed the decision made on Monday by Board Chair Brett Stegall and Superintendent Drill, placing the Superintendent on temporary paid administrative leave pending an investigation. An outside third party investigator will be hired to look into the decades-old allegations from when Mr. Drill was Assistant Principal and/or Principal of Cascade High School.

“We recognize this is a difficult time,” said Board Member Ruth Stevens. “We appreciate everyone’s continued focus on our students and their education. We remain committed to providing a high-quality education where all students and staff feel safe and can thrive.”

The Board also offered their support of Superintendent Drill. “We also thank Mr. Drill for his advice and understanding of the current situation,” said Ms. Stevens. “We appreciate his willingness to step aside while we conduct a third-party investigation into the allegations contained with the recent lawsuit.”

The second resolution named Chair Brett Stegall to be the spokesperson for the Board if there is a need for an official statement.

The third resolution named Director of Human Resources Jason Weeks to perform the duties of Superintendent for the time that Mr. Drill is on temporary leave.

Board Chair Stegall and Mr. Weeks expressed confidence that the district will continue to serve our students well in the time that Superintendent Drill is on leave.
