With colder winter weather starting to arrive (and lots of rain this week with a flooding risk), we want you to be informed about our process for communicating a delay or a closure so that you know what to expect. We make a decision for a closure or delay by 6:00 am and use ParentSquare to send a phone call, text, email, and ParentSquare app alert to let our community know. Now is a good time to make sure your school has the correct phone number and email address to reach you; contact the office with any recent changes so we will be able to reach you.
For a two hour delay, all school start times and bus pick ups happen exactly two hours later. If a two hour delay happens on a Wednesday where late start is already scheduled, everything will still just be two hours delayed; we won't make an additional two hours, which would put the start time after 11 am.
For a school closure, evening activities and athletics are canceled as well, unless otherwise noted. Sometimes we will first call a delay and then if conditions do not improve, we will call for a closure.
Safety of our students and staff is our main priority, and we make decisions about delays and closures with that in mind. We have a large area in our school district, with homes at different elevations. This sometimes means you can look out your window and wonder why we are closing, because your area is quite different than another part of our district. We do our best with these difficult decisions, and ask for your understanding.
