Thank you to everyone who voted! The Construction Bond for Cascade Schools that was on Tuesday’s ballot is still very close. Currently, 51.79% of the counted votes are yes votes.

Some mailed ballots have been counted, but there are still some votes left to count. We are waiting for the final vote tallies, but are cautiously optimistic. In this difficult economic climate, we are so grateful for voters who support our amazing students at Cascade!

Speech Language Pathologist Day

Our staff help our students in so many ways, and on Monday we honored our Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs)!

They are experts in speech, langauge, voice, and swallowing disorders, and help our students each day.

Thank you Joy Medlock, Julie Peacock, and Wendy Smith!

"Reach the Beach" Field Trip for Turner 5th Graders

5th graders at Turner Elementary had an amazing learning (and fun) experience on Tuesday!

It was their "Reach the Beach" day, with multiple parts. It all started with the Seal Rock tidal pools! Why Tuesday? -2.44 low tide at 9:08 am! The trip is planned around the tides.

Next stop was the Oregon Coast Aquarium, with so much to see, do and learn! Then a visit to Ripley's Believe it or Not and the wax museum, and finally the Hatfield Marine Science Center. You can see more pictures on our Facebook page.

So grateful to the Turner Elementary Parent Club for the funds to make this memory-making learning experience possible!

  • Grant Hemelstrand (attends Crosshill Christian) 4th place
  • Garrett Wells 14th. (#1 freshman in 4A)
  • Cru Buckendorf 22nd
  • Cameron Wilson 34th
  • Clark Clayton and Dylan Smith each played 1 day so they didn't rank over the 2 day event, but each of their scores counted toward the team finish.

Congratulations!

Jr. High Students Serve By Cleaning Up Cemetery

Mr. Slagle’s leadership and Mrs. Buczynski’s AVID classes from Cascade Junior High School, in partnership with the Aumsville Historical Society, visited the Aumsville Cemetery for their annual Memorial Day service project.

Students worked hard to clean up the cemetery in preparation for Memorial Day visitors. It was a beautiful day for students to serve their community in this special way!

Summer EBT Benefits

Quick Summer EBT facts

  • Summer EBT is a food benefits program for families with school-aged children (6-18 years old).

  • Each summer, families can receive one yearly payment of $120 for each eligible child in their home.

  • While most families who participate are automatically eligible, some families may still need to apply.

  • Unused EBT benefits expire 122 days from the date they were originally issued.

Who is automatically enrolled in Summer EBT?

  • Most families will get Summer EBT automatically if they are receiving other benefits. This includes families who received Summer EBT in 2025 and continue to meet eligibility requirements. These families do not need to apply.

  • Automatically enrolled families will receive benefits on their existing Oregon EBT card starting on June 4, 2026.

  • Families who need a new card should call 855-328-6715.

Who needs to apply for Summer EBT?

  • Families who meet household income requirements and also:
  • Have children attending a school with the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) or the School Breakfast Program (SBP),

  • Did not participate last year

  • Do not receive other benefits from the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS).

Have a great weekend, Cascade!
