Update on Safety Issues

Posted Date: 10/16/26 (10:11 AM)

We are receiving lots of questions and want to communicate again with our community. We have had a series of three events that are challenging, and we want to be clear that all authorities have taken care of all issues and have given us the “all clear” that things are safe.

When we receive clearance from our law enforcement agencies, we have a responsibility to continue providing education to our students and continue with our activities normally. Parents of course can make decisions for their own students after having all the facts.

Within the last hour, a fire alarm went off at the High School. Students and staff exited appropriately, and the fire department came out and examined the campus and gave us the all clear.

We previously communicated about an incident after the high school volleyball game last night, and about a communication from a Jr. High student that was investigated this morning by law enforcement.

We have been asked when we were made aware of the Jr. High student’s message, and why parents were not notified before students were dropped off.

Law enforcement informed us while buses were already en route to schools. We followed our safety protocols to ensure the safety of all students, placing the campus in a “Secure Hold.” This protocol is not as high as a “Lockdown,” because there was an investigation, not an immediate threat. We communicated as quickly as we were able after law enforcement cleared the school. We are constantly reviewing our safety protocols and will work to continually improve safety as well as communication with our community.

We understand concerns from families and hope this communication gives you the clear information we have received from all our First Responders. We trust them and are so grateful for their amazing work.
